Wendy J. Lems
Attorney
With nearly 30 years of legal experience, Wendy J. Lems has built a family law practice grounded in compassion, clarity, and strong advocacy. A graduate of the University of Utah College of Law, she was admitted to the Utah State Bar in 1996 and has spent her career helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most difficult legal challenges.
Her practice focuses exclusively on Family Law, including:
- Divorce and legal separation
- Child custody and parent-time
- Paternity
- Adoption
- Alimony and child support (including termination and modifications)
- Annulments
- Pre- and post-marital agreements
- Grandparents’ rights
- Protective orders and stalking injunctions
She has been privileged to assist both traditional, non-traditional and military families throughout Utah, guiding clients through disputes with care, discretion, and a practical mindset.
A Personalized, Team-Based Approach
Wendy has intentionally built a small, experienced legal team to ensure every client receives individualized attention and support. Each team member is not only highly skilled but deeply invested in providing thoughtful, compassionate care.
Unlike large, high-volume firms, her boutique practice allows for close collaboration and constant communication with clients. From start to finish, the firm is committed to helping clients understand their options, manage emotional and financial stress, and make informed decisions that protect their future.
While many cases are successfully resolved through mediation and settlement negotiations, Wendy Lems and her team are also experienced litigators. When court involvement is necessary, they are prepared to advocate strongly for their clients in the courtroom.
The firm regularly partners with retired judges, seasoned mediators, and skilled private investigators to help achieve the best possible outcomes for each case.
A Personal Connection to Adoption
Adoption law holds a special place in Wendy’s practice and heart — as an adoptive mother of two, she brings not only legal experience but deep personal understanding to every adoption case she handles
Judicial Insight
Since 2001, Wendy has served as a Small Claims Judge Pro Tempore, volunteering her time and gaining valuable insight from the bench. This experience allows her to better anticipate court processes and help clients resolve disputes efficiently and effectively.
